Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup North Coast Organic APPLESAUCE
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450ยฐ.
- In a medium sized bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Cut in butter with a pastry blender (or two forks if you donโt have one) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center of the dry mixture. In a small mixing bowl, combine buttermilk and applesauce, then add to the dry mixture all at once.
- Using a fork, stir until just moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough by gently folding and pressingย until the it is nearly smooth.
- Pat or lightly roll dough to 1/2" thickness.
- Cut dough with floured 2-1/2" biscuit cutter.
- Place biscuits 1" apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until golden.
- Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
