Ingredients:

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1/3 cup buttermilk

1/3 cup North Coast Organic Apple Sauce

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450°. In a medium sized bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Cut in butter with a pastry blender (or two forks if you don’t have one) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the dry mixture. In a small mixing bowl, combine buttermilk and applesauce, then add to the dry mixture all at once. Using a fork, stir until just moistened.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough by gently folding and pressing until the it is nearly smooth. Pat or lightly roll dough to 1/2″ thickness. Cut dough with floured 2-1/2″ biscuit cutter. Place biscuits 1″ apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes or until golden. Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
