Slow Cooker Brisket

Not your ordinary brisket recipe here! This one starts off in the slow cooker for 10 hours, and finishes in the oven, ensuring the most tender, juicy, and flavorful brisket you may have ever tasted!
Course: Main Dish
Keyword: Brisket

Ingredients

  • 5 lb Beef Brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Rub

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp each paprika, onion powder, garlic powder
  • 1 tsp each cayenne, mustard powder, salt, fresh ground pepper

For the BBQ Sauce

  • 1 ½ cup ketchup
  • cup water
  • cup North Coast Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp each fresh ground pepper, onion powder, mustard powder, paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne

Instructions

  • Mix all rub ingredients together in a small bowl. Rub brisket with the spice mixture, ensuring that it is worked into the meat evenly. Set aside.
  • Combine all BBQ sauce ingredients in the slow cooker and mix well. Carefully add the brisket and cook on low for 10 hours. Remember patience is a virtue!
  • Once the brisket is finished in the slow cooker, preheat the oven to 400ﹾ and spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Carefully place brisket in the dish and rub with olive oil. Set aside.
  • Pour liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce until it starts to thicken and resembles a syrup-like consistency. Remove from heat.
  • Baste generously with the sauce and roast in oven for 15 minutes or until it starts to caramelize. Baste again with sauce and return to oven for 5 minutes. Repeat three more times and the brisket should look just like the picture. Cover with foil and let rest for 15 minutes. When ready to serve, thinly slice against the grain and ENJOY!
