INGREDIENTS:

2 1/2 cups whole milk (or non-dairy milk)

1 1/4 cups North Coast Apple Juice or Cider

2 large eggs

1/3 cup sugar

2 Tablespoons brown sugar

1/3 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1/2 cup bourbon (omit if making a mocktail)

cinnamon sticks for stirrers

DIRECTIONS:

Place the milk, cider, eggs, sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk constantly for about 15 min (so you don’t end up with scrambled eggs) until it thickens enough to coat a wooden spoon. Remove from heat and continue to whisk for a couple more minutes until extra smooth.

Stir in the bourbon for cocktails or omit for mocktails (you can also add the bourbon individually to the mugs if making both). Serve with cinnamon sticks and enjoy! This recipe can be enjoyed hot or chilled for future use.
