Chocolate Apple Sauce Bundt Cake

How do you take a decadent, mouthwatering, ooey-gooey chocolate cake and make it even better? Why you add apple sauce of course! Sneaking in a bit of nutrition only adds to the moist deliciousness of this cake. And the chocolate glaze made with a splash of apple juice didn’t hurt either!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups North Coast Apple Sauce
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°. In a large bowl, sift together the sugar, flour, baking soda, cocoa, cinnamon, and salt. Add apple sauce, vegetable oil and vanilla and mix well to combine. Pour into a greased and floured Bundt pan and bake for 50 minutes or until a knife comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool while you make the glaze.
    For the Glaze:
    Ingredients
    5 Tbsp butter
    6 Tbsp cocoa powder
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 Tbsp North Coast Apple Juice or Cider, hot
    Directions
    In a small saucepan, melt butter and cocoa powder over low heat, stirring until well combined. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar. Add vanilla and the hot apple juice or cider and stir until the glaze is smooth.
    Pour over a cooled cake and ENJOY!
