INGREDIENTS

12 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

3 Tablespoons granulated sugar

2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided

Juice from 1 lemon

2 cups brown sugar

1.5 cups old fashioned oats

1.5 cups all-purpose flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup butter, chilled and diced

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350°.  Butter and flour an 8”x16” baking dish and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1 Tablespoon of the cinnamon, and lemon juice and mix well. Transfer to prepared baking dish and distribute evenly.

In a separate mixing bowl, add the brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 Tablespoon cinnamon, salt, and butter.  Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the oat mixture, until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.

Spread topping over the apples and gently pat to even it out.  Use a knife to cut some of the crumple down to the bottom of the dish. Bake 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.

Serve warm drizzled with North Coast Apple Syrup (recipe can be found here) and vanilla bean ice-cream. ENJOY!
