Ingredients
Streusel Topping
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (77g includes the 1 tbsp listed below)
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oats
- 5 tbsp cold butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Cake
- 1 1/2 sticks sticks unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 5 cloves ground or 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1 1/2 cups North Coast Organic APPLESAUCE
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- Pinch salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (155g includes the 2 tbsp listed below)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 375ยฐF.
- Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
- Make the topping: In a small bowl, combine the flour, oats, butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon. Rub the butter and dry ingredients together until crumbly. Place the bowl in the freezer while you make the cake batter.
- Make the cake: To a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the butter. Whisk continuously, until the butter goes from bright yellow to golden brown, about 6 minutes.
- Remove the pan off the heat. Add the cinnamon, cloves, APPLESAUCE, sugar and whisk to combine. Add the eggs and whisk until incorporated.
- Add the flour, baking powder and whisk until incorporated.
- Pour the cake batter in the pan. Evenly sprinkle the topping all over the cake batter. Bake for 30 minutes, until golden.
